Dezső Ekler
Hungarian architect, designer. After graduating as an architect, he worked on urban sociology at the Scientific Research Department of BUVÁTI, and then worked for a few years with his master Imre Makovecz. He taught at the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts and at the Department of Urban Architecture of the Budapest University of Technology, and was a professor at the Széchenyi István University in Győr. From 2000 until his retirement in 2012 he was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, and received the Piranesi Prize (1989), the Palladio Prize (1991), the Ybl Prize (1994) and the Prima Prize (2003) in international and national recognition. He obtained a DLA Master’s degree in 1999 and a habilitation in 2005. He has participated as a lecturer and presented his work in group and solo exhibitions at numerous architectural events abroad and in Hungary, and is a frequent contributor to national and international journals. As an invited architect, he was the only Hungarian to participate in the Alessi Tea and Coffee Towers project (2000-2003), which was followed by the “Tulip” collection of mocha and tea cups designed in 2005 as part of the Il caffé/té Alessi project. At the 2023 Budapest Design Week, he presented his latest porcelain collection at the Palmetta Design Gallery.
